Born in Taipei in 1973, Jan Chen showed an interest in art and unique things at an early age.  A yearbook passage from his kindergarten teacher states, "Draw!  And keep on drawing…one day you will soar and the sky will be your canvas!"   Jan remembered her words of encouragement and by age 12, would start formal academic art education for the next six summers.   He continued to study art and form and, in 1998, earned a B.F.A. and a M.A. in Art and Animation from Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia..

Movement, nature and subject matter play vital roles in Jan's work. The use of continuous curves and movement in his paintings portray connectivity within the world and alludes to the fact that our actions can have an everlasting influence on many others.  He also believes that his work speaks from something personal, whether it's created for visual entertainment purposes or implies deeper, abstract thoughts.

Some of Jan's work has won him several international awards, also been permanently collected by schools, universities and private individuals. In addition to traditional art, Jan also creates and produces work using computer-generated graphics.  His job as a computer animation director for DUCK studios in Los Angeles provides new avenues in design and creation.  Fueled by his passion and skill for art, Jan will continue to produce more original work, whatever the choice of medium.
